Linear Motion CNC Door Automation

AutoDoor on machine

Innova AutoDoor automates CNC machine doors using direct linear motion instead of pneumatics or conventional servo mechanisms. The result is smoother operation, reduced maintenance, and predictable performance in demanding machining environments.

The system supports single-door, double-door, and telescopic configurations and integrates cleanly with CNC controls and automation systems.

Linear Motion Advantage

Linear motor actuation moves the door directly along its travel path, reducing mechanical complexity and eliminating pneumatic systems.

Compared to pneumatic or servo-driven systems, linear motion provides consistent operation and repeatable door movement in automated CNC applications.

How It Works:

  • Linear motor drive translates directly to door motion — no gears or belts.
  • I/O box links to the machine’s control or robot interface.
  • HMI panel (optional) provides diagnostics, cycle count, and speed tuning.
  • Covers and brackets customized for machine geometry.

Single Door Systems

Single door systems are used on CNC machines with one sliding access door.
Typical applications

  • Vertical machining centers
  • Compact CNC enclosures
  • Manual or semi-automated loading applications

Configuration characteristics

  • One linear motor actuator
  • Direct sliding door motion
  • Simple mechanical layout
  • Fast, repeatable open/close cycles

Single door systems are commonly selected for retrofit automation projects where simplicity and reliability are priorities.

Double Door Systems

Double-door systems are often used on larger CNC machines and automation-ready enclosures. They can be set up with either two linear drives or a single belt-synchronized drive system, depending on the application and machine l

ayout.

Belt-Synchronized Configuration

  • One linear motor driving both doors via a belt mechanism
  • Used when doors must open and close simultaneously
  • Common on center-split VMC doors

The appropriate specs are determined during the configuration process based on door weight, travel distance, and door geometry among other factors.
